Comparative & Superlative Adjectives

Form

 1.    For most one-syllable adjectives, add –er.

clean                    cleaner            cleanest

   2.    For one-syllable adjectives which have one vowel + one consonant, double the consonant and add –er.

       big                        bigger               biggest         3.    For one-syllable adjectives which end in –e, add –r.

late                       later                  latest

4.    For adjectives with two syllables ending in –y, drop the –y and add –ier.

5.    For most other adjectives of more than one syllable, use more

The comparative form is used to compare two things or people.

-Cats are cleaner than dogs.

Order

1.    A teacher gives a box which putting transportation pictures to students.

2.  A student hold a box when the teacher say “start” the student will send the box to his/her friend who sitting beside him/her.

3.  Students keep sending the box to other and when the teacher says “stop”. The student who holds the box in his/her hands pick one of transportation pictures from the box and then tell everyone about the vocabulary and spell that word.

4.  If the vocabulary is correct, students will continue playing game. If the student says the wrong vocabulary he/she have to write that vocabulary one paper in their notebook.
